The Del Mar Kiwanis club distributed checks in the amount of $1700 to three local charities at the November 12, 2009 regular meeting. The funds were raised at the annual Del Mar Kiwanis Day at the Races.

Photo above shows Susan Widney and Steve Gardella presenting a check for $1700 to Barbara Mandel Pache who represents Friends of Del Mar Parks. Friends of Del Mar Parks is a charitable organization which is preserving land in Del Mar for the recreational use of local children.

Funds were also distributed to Floyd Jackson and Jared Madigan who represent Phoenix House. Phoenix House provides inpatient and out patient care and counseling for local youth who have problems with substance abuse.

Caroline Collins who represents La Classe Majica, a local charity that tutors underprivileged children and helps them develop computer skills also received a check in the amount of $1700 for La Classe Majica.
